Challenge
The prior owner had run all job pricing and inventory forecasting in his head. No systems, no dashboards, no structured reporting. The COO had begun tracking labor manually in Excel and immediately found margin — that proof of concept became the brief.
Approach
Built a fully automated GL data pipeline — QuickBooks API through Power Automate, SharePoint, Power Query, and into Power BI and Excel — with no manual exports at any stage. Job-level profitability, labor tracking, and quarterly board reporting all flowing from a single source of truth.
Results
- 5% bottom-line improvement from labor visibility — confirmed
- 7% additional upside from material cost tracking — validated during engagement
- Live self-refreshing reporting with no manual exports
- Quarterly board reporting delivered to PE sponsor at every review cycle
- Phase 2 roadmap: BOM intelligence and AI-assisted job costing scoped and delivered
